Internationally acclaimed new-media artist, Marilyn Gross, was a signature member of the International Society of Experimental Artists, the International Society of Painters in Acrylic, the National Collage Society, and the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media.
Marilyn studied at St. Louis University, School of The Art Institute of Chicago, Washington School of Art in New York, and completed many other highly specialized courses.
She was an associate of American Watercolor Society; National Water Color Society; and Chicago Artists Coalition.
Her highly unique works are included in numerous corporate and private collections and have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the U.S. Her works, awards, artistic philosophies and related accomplishments are documented in dozens of books and publications.
Marilyn’s multi-decade intention was to create art that heals the body, mind and spirit.
Her earliest light-study inspired works tended toward realism. She pivoted almost exclusively to abstract and non-representational works mid-career, returning occasionally to soothing yet vivid nature-focused themes. Experimental approaches and Layerism ultimately became her most preferred styles.
All of her signature works emerged from a routine meditative approach: quieting herself, awaiting an opening, listening and feeling, intuitively, with no fixed intentions as to the direction or outcomes of any specific exploration or final work. Time and time again, she wove incredibly impactful multi-sensory multi-media tapestries of vibrational healing and meaning.
Owners and collectors share that initially seemingly “hidden” images embedded in her works later “reveal” themselves – sometimes months or years on into their enjoyment; unleashing yet new wonder and appreciation.
As such, Marilyn’s works have often been referred to quite simply as: “ALIVE.”
Great Art is a collaboration between God and the Artist. The less the Artist does the better.”
- Andre Gide
